WHO Chief Said COVID-19: Enemy Against Humanity | Must Read This

What is COVID-19:

COVID-19
Today, we will talk about a very serious and sensitive topic which is COVID-19 that means  Coronvirus disease. You should know about this, what exactly it is? The newly discovered disease is caused by the virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Coronaviruses are zoonoses i.e. they spread between animals and people.

According to scientists the virus SARS-CoV-2 originated naturally as a result of natural selection and was not genetically engineered. The SARS-CoV-2 virus’s backbone resembles related viruses found in bats and pangolins. In other words, it is believed that the virus had spread from these animals.

In another proposed scenario it is posited that a non-pathogenic version of the virus jumped from an animal host into humans and then evolved to its current pathogenic state within the human population.

The origin theory for the virus is supplemented by preliminary research into the disease’s genome, as well as the origin of similar diseases.

The outbreak purportedly started in Wuhan in late 2019, has infected over 2 lakh people worldwide and depriving over 8700 people of their lives. The virus has affected 169 countries. The rise in the number of daily confirmed cases internationally has led the World Health Organisation (WHO) to declare the spread of the coronavirus a global pandemic.

The worst affected countries are China, Italy, Iran, and Spain. The death toll in Italy has surpassed that of China, where the virus reportedly originated.

In response to this pandemic, countries around the world are adopting various measures to decelerate the spread of the virus. The governments have locked-down towns and cities and urged the citizens to stay in self-isolation.

Several countries have imposed a travel ban in light of the recent outbreak. Many international conferences and sporting events have been canceled or postponed. The government has advised companies to implement the ‘work from home’ policy.

In light of the recent catastrophe, Prime Minister Modi has requested the citizens to observe 22nd March (Sunday) as ‘JANTA CURFEW’. All the citizens are requested to stay indoor from 7 am to 9 pm. The government of India has also banned any international travel from 22nd March.

💥How does the Virus Infect a Person?

If anyone infected with the COVID-19 virus coughs, sneezes or exhales, they release a large number of droplets of infected fluid. These droplets fall on the nearby surfaces such as a table, desk, telephone, etc. People could catch the virus by touching the contaminated object and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. This virus spreads like flu.

The common signs of infection include fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing. Some people may develop mild symptoms and recover whereas others may go on to experience more serious illness and may require medical attention. People of all ages are prone to be infected by the virus, however, older people and people with existing respiratory conditions are more vulnerable.

💥Precautions to be Taken:

As a discreet measure, one must wash their hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Regular washing of hands reduces the chance of infection as it removes the virus (If contaminated) and prevents entering the human body through mouth, eyes or nose. People are also advised not to touch their face, mouth or eyes too often.

One should also practice social distancing i.e. one should avoid shaking hands or any other form of physical contact with people, avoid going out unnecessarily and stay aloof from people having cough and practice proper sneezing etiquettes.

💥Facts about COVID-19 (By the WHO):

  • The virus spread in all conditions. Places that are hot and humid have also reported cases of infections. Taking a hot bath or sauna does not make you less susceptible to the virus.
  • There is no evidence stating the transmission of the virus employing mosquitos or other carriers.
  • The best way to protect yourself from the infection is by regularly washing your hands with soap and water or by using alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Once cleaned the hands must be dried. The UV lamps (ultra-violet lamps) should not be used for sterilization purposes as it may be pernicious to the skin.
  • Once infected, spraying alcohol or chlorine all over the body won’t kill the virus.
  • The thermal scanner is effective only in descrying people who have developed a fever. It cannot tell whether a person is infected with the virus. It reportedly takes 2 to 10 days before people who are infected become sick and develop a fever.
  • No vaccines against the new coronavirus have yet been synthesized. Vaccines against pneumonia or any other disease do not provide you with immunity to this virus.
  • There is no confirmation regarding eating garlic can protect you from the new coronavirus. However, garlic is a portion of healthy food and has some antimicrobial properties.
  • No antibiotics are effective against the new coronavirus. Antibiotics are only effective for diseases caused by bacteria and since the new coronavirus is a virus, therefore, antibiotics do not affect them
