 Get Tips to Improve Health
Stress Management

Today, we will discuss a very sensitive topic related to our health. We face many problems in our life, It becomes a reason to increase your stress. If you want me to tell you the definition in medical or psychological terms, stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension.

Stress can be due to external (environment, social situations, etc.) or internal (illness, medical procedures, etc.) factors. Stress usually triggers the body’s fight or flight response, which means the release of adrenaline.

It also triggers a reaction of neurologic and endocrinologic systems. The release of catecholamine hormones i.e. adrenaline or noradrenaline causes immediate physical reactions and is accompanied by the preparation for violent muscular actions such as acceleration of heart, lung action, paling, digestion problems, nausea, constriction of blood vessels, etc.

Prolonged exposure of the body to stress can also cause or influence the course of many medical and psychological conditions like depression and anxiety, the medical conditions include worsening of diabetes or blood pressure among other problems.

💥How do we manage stress?

Stress management is a majorly recognized technique of helping people cope with stress.

Stress is a part of a person’s daily life. There is just no escaping from stress because literally, everything we do causes stress for some reason or another.

There is good stress and bad stress. The bad stress, is as the name suggests, bad for the body. And prolonged exposure of the body to it causes negative effects. However, good stress is actually good for the body as it motivates us to perform better in the situations.

Everybody has stress. However, the way we handle it makes all the difference. There’s no need to get overwhelmed by stress, which is what most people tend to do. They get overwhelmed and make the problem even worse.

Especially now that we are all stuck inside our homes for who knows how long due to a global pandemic, the stress level of every single person in this world is really high. I am hoping to help people cope with a little of their stress. I will tell some stress management ways and also about diets that can help in reducing stress.

If you are still not convinced, or if you notice someone displaying the following signs, you can recognize that the person is suffering from stress and help them a bit. If a person is a stress, they will display the following signs:

Depression or anxiety

Anger, irritability, or restlessness

Feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unfocused

Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much

Racing thoughts or constant worry

Problems with memory or concentration

Making bad decisions

Certain Foods help to cope with stress. Complex carbs prompt the increase of serotonin. The foods in this group include pasta, wholegrain bread, and just plain old fashioned oatmeal. Simple carbs also help despite doctors recommending against them, but these foods are good in a pinch but don’t make its habit of consuming them as they are bad for health.

Oranges are recommended because they provide vitamin C which curbs stress and boosts the immune system. Fatty fish, magnesium and black tea are also good for helping control stress.

Tea is the world-famous solution when you need to calm down and it actually does work every time. Nuts like pistachios and almonds are also good for fighting stress. Avocados are also very good for bringing down stress levels.

Stress management is a psychotherapy technique developed by Hans Selye. It is aimed at controlling a person’s stress levels, especially if it is a chronic level. It has the motive and purpose of improving everyday functioning.

High levels of stress demand even extra work with the person. This technique also takes biological responses into account as well. Stress management includes a lot of techniques, like cognitive therapy, mindfulness, deep breathing, use of music as a coping strategy, meditation amongst others.

💥Some more ways that you can reduce stress are:

  • Keep a positive attitude.
  • Accept that you cannot control everything. Life is very unpredictable and all you can do is try to solve the problems that come up.
  • Exercise regularly. Exercising is proven to bring down stress and your body fights tress better when you keep it fit.
  • Be assertive, not aggressive.
  • Eat well-balanced meals. A healthy and well-balanced meal will help your body fight stress better.
  • Manage time more effectively. If you are prepared for the day, you are less likely to be surprised by a problem.

That’s it. Hope I helped. Feel free to drop suggestions below if I missed out on anything.
